How to link EPLAN in project engineering and management

SO3-Desktop-EPLAN-Generierung.png
Bring EPLAN and project engineering together on a collaborative platform

SO3 is an unbeatable tool for your EPLAN generation in collaborative project management!

  • Layout-based generation

  • EPLAN data import & export

  • Preparation of EPLAN data

  • Intelligent visual representation

  • Individually customizable

Link EPLAN to project management and prevent data loss. Maximum reproducibility and standardization.

EPLAN Generation with SO3

The most important information at a glance:

  • Import original EPLAN archive formats (*.ZW1, *.ZW9) into SO3.

  • Imported EPLAN data can be edited both visually and in terms of data.

  • Import EPLAN article data.

  • Import EPLAN language data.

  • No EPLAN license required for SO3 import.

  • EPLAN generation in SO3 starts with intelligent linking of imported EPLAN data in the layout module and basic engineering module (automated + manual).

  • Link freely configurable fields and functions to EPLAN templates and adapt them to functional requirements.

  • Intelligent and synchronous EPLAN verification—visually too!

  • 100% accurate and error-free EPLAN generation in SO3.

  • SO3 Layout can be exported intelligently to EPLAN using EPLAN symbol logic.

  • Export, including complete SO3 project planning, circuit diagram pages, fluid pages, etc., is carried out logically in accordance with EPLAN.

  • SO3 Layout serves as an overview/table of contents in EPLAN with intelligent links to operating resources in the circuit diagram.

SO

      integrated

In SO3, electrical documentation is not created manually, but generated directly from the existing project and layout data. On this basis, the software automatically triggers EPLAN generation.

To do this, the data is entered into stored EPLAN template pages. Components such as sensors, motors, or roller conveyors are available as symbols in the layout and can be placed exactly where they are needed.

Cross-references can be used to link individual elements functionally, ensuring that dependencies – such as signal flows – remain technically traceable in the layout.

This approach automatically generates a complete, consistent, and documentable schematic page in EPLAN from an interdisciplinary layout.
A uniform data set that is used for all disciplines ensures that errors are avoided and media breaks are eliminated.

SO

      Basic Engineering

Suitable EPLAN templates from the SO3 database can be assigned to planned plant functions – either automatically using defined algorithms or by manual selection.

This creates a consistent database at an early stage, on which all further planning can be based. Information from the mechanical layout flows directly into the electrical engineering design and is processed consistently.

A high degree of standardization further increases the benefits: the more uniform the project structure, the more documentation can be prepared at this stage. This creates a reliable basis for efficient processes throughout the entire project.

SO

      Detail Engineering

EPLAN templates can be adapted to the specific requirements of a project. Unnecessary components can be hidden, item numbers exchanged, and reference labels added.

The link to the original template is retained so that changes can be traced at any time and easily reversed.

Inputs and outputs are assigned via a card overview. A single start address is sufficient for consistent address assignment, even across multiple sheets and modules. This ensures clarity and consistency in electrical engineering planning.

SO

      collaborative

A particular advantage of SO3 is the integration of preconfigured circuit diagram templates for numerous technical components such as sensors, roller conveyors, or drives.

Once the mechanical layout has been loaded into SO3, for example as a DWG file, the electrical planning can be carried out directly in the layout: The required components can be placed as symbols in the appropriate locations and linked to the rest of the system via cross-references.

What makes this special is that this visually constructed plan is automatically used to generate a complete schematic page that can be seamlessly integrated into EPLAN, including all technical information.

This turns an interdisciplinary layout into a consistent, documentable circuit diagram – without any media discontinuity.
